A "Sign" Of The End Times

It was bound to happen sooner or later. There is a sign on the highways of Florida now, financed by some atheist group, that says, "Being a good person doesn't require God. Don't believe in God? You're not alone." I take great offence to this sign, although part of me gets very happy and excited! The Bible teaches us that in the End Times, people will turn away from God in droves. Maybe this sign is a "sign" of those times predicted thousands of years ago. I totally agree with the first part of the Florida sign. It is true that to be a good person, you may not need God. But to be a SAVED person, you absolutely do need His Son Jesus Christ!

Not only does this sign point to the End times, but it also shows just how much work we as Christians still have to do. The fact that Jesus has not come back yet demonstrates the incredible patience and mercy of God. There are still people who need to be saved and to come into the Christian family. God does not want anyone to perish. But one day, perhaps very soon, He will decide it has been enough time. He may be getting frustrated with those of us who are Christians who choose not to tell others about Him. Remember, we can't save them; That's God's job. But our job is to at least share with them the Good News that is Christ. The Florida sign suggests we may not be doing our jobs very well. But God will help us if we will just ask Him. It's not too late...yet.

2 Corinthians 4:3 says, "But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost."

Father, please help us to share the great news about your Son Jesus. Forgive those who still do not believe. Use us as you see fit to help them. In Jesus name, Amen.

  1. The sign is offensive to me for the simple reason that if a Christian were to post a similar sign with the reverse message, like you stated, "you don't need God to be good but you do need him to be saved," can you imagine the public outcry that would result.
Nice post. I agree with your thoughts on the fact that God is very merciful and patient, not to have wiped us all off the face of the earth by now.

  2. Oh I wish that this surprised me but it doesn't. I've been going to another site lately and hanging out but it has shocked me to no end. I had no idea that so many people don't believe and they honestly hate Christians! I just didn't know that. I have never felt "persecuted for His name" before until I entered that site. Now, the sign that you show just saddens me so much. How many children will read that sign and believe it? How many people that are on the borderline will go in that direction because of that sign...I will pray that IF a hurricane comes to Florida that THAT sign will be the first thing it takes with it ;)

  3. Hey...to answer the question I posed yesterday...gift or talent...I did some research. Talent is natural ability which also has to do with the genes you were given at birth. Gift is given by the Holy Spirit. But I think they both can overlap, because when I looked them up in the dictionary...they are both synmons for each other. Go figure.
