Fall Break

Today is the last day for students and teachers in the Dothan City School System. Our Fall Break begins at 3:15! I think I can speak for most students and teachers; We are desperately needing a little break from the stresses of public education. Every job should have some off-time. Studies have shown that workers are more efficient when they receive regular time away from their jobs. I will be off from the high school only until Wednesday, and I will still have to work at the college Tuesday night, but I am still going to enjoy what little time I have been given. I will be officially "on vacation".

How many times do we pray to God, but it seems He is away on vacation? How many times do we feel like our prayers never get beyond the ceiling? I guess that happens to all of us from time to time. But we can rest assured that God is never too busy to concern Himself with our daily needs. In the Gospels, we learn of several times that Jesus was very busy doing one thing, but He never hesitated to stop and address the needs of those around Him. Once, He was busy preaching and teaching some 4000 people when they ran out of food. Jesus stopped what He was doing and fed every single one of them...and still had some food left over. On more than one occasion, He was asked to go heal someone in need, and He indeed dropped what He was doing and fulfilled those wishes. There was even another time when He was so tired from His ministry, that He fell sound asleep on a boat with His disciples, even when a monster storm blew up. His disciples panicked and scrambled to wake Jesus so He could save them from drowning. He got right up and calmed the storm. No, He is never too busy to help us. You know those advertisers that say no job is too big or too small for them? Well, the same is true of Jesus. He is very able, and even more willing, to help us when we cry out to Him.

Psalm 55:17 says, "Evening, morning, and at noon will I pray and cry aloud: and He shall hear my voice."

Father, thank you for wanting to help us. Please help us to not get discouraged when You don't answer us right away or answer us in the way we want you to. We trust in You, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.

  2. Enjoy the break. I am officially on break too. I lost my job yesterday. I’m okay. I have never been fired before. This is a new feeling for me. I have family and friends praying for me to find a job quickly. I am trusting God with the details. There are a few options for me right now that are in the works. It’s hard to be patient. :O) Thank you for your devotion this morning. It means a lot.

I liked your prayer today…. We trust in You, Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.

    Amen indeed! :O)

    Have a wonderful day!

    In Christ,

    Jody
