Yes, Jesus Loves Me

When I was being wheeled down to the operating room yesterday, we passed a male nurse who was singing Jesus Loves Me. At first, it was a very calming thing to hear him singing it. And I don't know if the drugs had me imagining it, but it did sound like the lady who was wheeling me joined in singing with him. But for a brief second, Satan allowed a negative thought to go through my mind. I was thinking: Yes, I know Jesus loves me. But is He going to punish me because I have not always lived for Him? Like I said, the thought was only brief. Have you ever thought that before? Have you ever thought that God was keeping a "record" of our bad decisions?

Hebrews answers this very question. The answer is an overwhelming NO. Thank God. We have all done foolish things in spite of our best efforts. We have all done the very thing we said we would never do again. We have all had our moments when we have placed certain things ahead of God. But the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, has saved us in spite of our past, secured us in spite of our present, and settled us in spite of our future. If you ever start getting worried that your sins are being thrown back up in your face, remember that is coming from Satan, the great liar, and not from God.

Hebrews 8:12 says, "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more."

Father, thank you for truly forgiving us through Your Son's precious blood. Your free gift is just too great for our minds to comprehend. Teach us to forgive others in the same way You have forgiven us. In Jesus name, Amen.

  2. Allen, thanks for the reminder that we sometimes allow doubts to enter our minds, even if for a brief moment. But more so, thank you Jesus, that HE is not keeping a record of our past sins to use them against us. I am glad your surgery went well and pray for a speedy recovery.
